Durrjanatheertha and Sajjanatheertha - The eponym of Good and Bad....

Some of the conversations between ‘Durrjanatheertha’ and ‘Sajjanatheertha’ vaguely reminds me of ‘Bohr-Einstein’ conversations. The fundamental epistemological difference between ‘Durrjanatheertha’ and ‘Sajjanatheertha’ makes it even more interesting to hear their own thoughts. Unlike Bohr-Einstein, ‘Durrjanatheertha’ and ‘Sajjanatheertha’ shared contrasting opinions against each other.

‘Durrjanatheertha’, a fictional higher-order priest comprises of practical thinking, takes pragmatic approach, opposes foolish and superstitious beliefs, monotheist and coherent. On the other hand, ‘Sajjanatheertha’ is also a fictionally created higher-order priest comprising of illogical reasoning, previously held beliefs, vaguely intuitive, polytheist, upholds community over humanity, places religion and ritual above science.

‘Durrjanatheertha’ in literal sense means a unholy pilgrim who is wicked at heart, anything negative ranging from Morally bad, unrighteous, unpleasant or annoying. However, in my note, I have portrayed ‘Durrjanatheertha’ as a character with intense pragmatism and critical of practical consequences, someone who is righteous with facts and science. Durrjanatheertha upholds humanity over community and operates his seat of wisdom from well-knows pubs in town.

‘Sajjanatheertha’ on the other hand, is typically a narrow minded individual and a holy pilgrim. Sajjanatheertha believes religion, caste, creed and colour are the core foundation of our social system and it should be respected irrespective of unchristian practices and discrimination among the civil system. Sajjanatheertha operates his seat of wisdom from the holy hermitage (locally known as Mattas) and ashramas.

Students of Durrjanatheertha comprise of rational thinkers and possibly some agnostics who challenge the illogical religious practices and condemn those who are threat to the society in the name of caste, creed and colour. However, students of Sajjanatheertha hail mostly from conservative families with limited or no exposure to upscale civilisation, aggressively defend the preachings of Sajjanatheertha and segregate people by caste, creed and colour. Preachings of Sajjanatheertha is often deemed as nuisance with limited or no scientific accuracy and mostly fictitious pantomimes.

During a highly anticipated debate between Durrjanatheertha and Sajjanatheertha and with some of their high profile disciples, Durrjanatheertha tore apart some of the illogical and unscientific approaches promoted by Sajjanatheertha such as direct relation or consequence of Punya (merit) and Karma (the cumulative consequences of deeds) resulting in more favourable future rebirth and very existence of marketing agents who promote religious practices and encourage segregation within the society by treating disciples of Durrjanatheertha as outcast and thus not having any relationship with them and/ or invite them to their house or not share any food or festivals with them.

Durrjanatheertha once made an iconic speech about the logical shortfalls claimed by Sajjanatheertha disregarding the baseless understanding of borrowing blood during medical needs thus not knowing from whom the blood was drawn, leading to a possibility of someone so-called outcast donating blood to Sajjanatheertha or his clan by saving lives. Sajjanatheertha would never be brave enough to know from whom the blood was drawn thus leading to failure of his own illogical theories.

On the other hand, Sajjanatheertha assembled like-minded conservatives across similar religious and caste lines, prompting them to segregate the society based on upper and lower castes and claim to be superior to others. These conservatives are mostly meek, timid and unable in resorting to any aggressive or assertive opposition. Followers of Sajjanatheertha are often found in Groups and associations of like-minded characters who promote division, aloofness and bring segregation within the society. Most of these people hesitate to openly admit or promote their pressing desire to segregate the society on religious lines. However, when confronted or met in social gathering, they leave a trace of evidence exhibiting their behaviour and or inflicting ethnic cleansing. Ironically, Sajjanatheertha and his followers hail from lower or middle-class families, mostly prevailing from rigid mindset and primitive practices. Ironically, most houses and households of these people are shabby and look like tenement shacks.

Durrjanatheertha often involves people of all caste, creed, colour and promotes his followers to develop collaborative behaviour amongst all classes of society. Durrjanatheertha encourages people with new ideas, scientific approach and modern thinking. Durrjanatheertha and his followers finds solace in International History, music of all genres, culture of all continents, peace and love for all mankind. Durrjanatheertha thinks that all creeds of the society should come together with common interests and create a harmonious landscape.

In our society, we will come across several Durrjanatheerthas and Sajjanatheerthas. In every walk of life, we are tested to make a choice between right or wrong. There are Durrjanatheerthas who will teach us to co-exist with every class of society and broaden our horizon, and then Sajjanatheerthas who will continue to divide and rule. It is us who need to make this world a better place. With each day has come to pass, we multiply the followers of Durrjanatheertha and Sajjanatheertha. With already existing social complexities, we need to make a conscious decision to treat all of us equally, honourably and kindly. Lead, Kindly Light is only the divine guidance, especially when life appears uncertain. It underscores the righteousness and our belief that can illuminate even the darkest paths.
